Sum Of Us is the leading wellness festival for LGBTQ+ women and trans identities.
Sum Of Us needed support conceptualizing, designing and installing multiple interactive installations for their first in-person festival since the pandemic. We leveraged the bridge's symbolism to execute a series of novel, transformative activations that impacts festival-goers long-term.
Using a wide range of materials, media, and engagement points, we produced an introspective and engaging journey for 500+ festival goers to interact with throughout the 3-day, 2-night gathering in Yosemite, CA. From hosting the first workshop of the festival, Transformative Art, to the affirmation postcards we curated and hung on the "Made in _____" bridge, our efforts intentionally embedded healing and connection in each touch point, ultimately deepening the impact of Sum Of Us on every attendee.
The results and impact were beyond words -- we received 11.7K views & 57 shares on Instagram via four Reels, 635 affirmation postcards were taken home from the "Made in ___" Bridge and 54 affirmation postcards were made and offered to The Communitree. Additionally, our project won a 2023 Bronze Anthem Award in the Art and Culture Special Projects Category. Made in Color successfully executed four activations with constant IRL traffic, over a 3-day period, all while intentionally embedding our values of inclusivity, access, and care into SOU 2022.
