Smile A Day (SAD) is a photojournalistic project that takes a look into the richness of life through the lens of a smile.
How does one shake the funk after an emotionally challenging phase? For this project, we were asked to produce a content series that spreads happiness through photography and creative storytelling.
We ventured into diverse communities in Brooklyn, Dallas, Los Angeles, and the San Francisco, Bay Area to capture smiles of friends and strangers alongside their answers to an essential question: "What makes you happy, and why?"
Within a year, Smile A Day captured and shared 365 portraits and unique quotes about happiness via Instagram. The account generated organic audience growth from 0 to 5000+ followers in 6 months. Eventually, Smile A Day transformed into a lifestyle brand collaborating with top brands such as Today @Apple, 99 Designs, Fast Forward, Ernst & Young, Blavity, You Had Me At Black, and more. Additionally, the creativity project has been featured on Huffington Post, MiM Connect, Talk to Jess, and You Had Me At Black.
